Across the spring term, we are delighted to offer a series of free evening events that give students direct insight into academic progression routes and the skills needed to succeed. The programme begins on Tuesday 13 January 2026 with an Introduction to the CSMS Medical Pathway, an informative session for students considering a future in medicine, biomedical sciences or healthcare. This is followed on Thursday 15 January 2026 by an Introduction to the CSMS Veterinary Science Pathway, offering guidance for those with aspirations in animal science, veterinary practice or related biological fields. On Wednesday 21 January 2026, we will host a joint CSMS and CSLA Oxbridge Pathway Introduction, where students will gain practical advice on applying to Oxford or Cambridge, including insights into super-curricular learning, personal statements and developing academic confidence.

To support students preparing for GCSE examinations, CSMS will also run a three-part Maths Enhancement series designed specifically for those aiming for the highest grades. These sessions take place on Tuesday 24 February, Thursday 19 March and Thursday 23 April 2026 from 6.00pm to 7.00pm, and focus on advanced problem-solving strategies, mathematical reasoning and exam technique. These seminars are ideal for students who enjoy challenge and want to push their skills beyond classroom level in preparation for A Level study and beyond.

All outreach sessions take place on the CSMS Nexus Campus in Camborne and are free to attend. They offer a welcoming and intellectually engaging environment where students can explore subject interests in greater depth, discover new academic pathways and meet others who share a passion for learning. Whether you are considering a future in STEM, exploring post-16 options or planning a competitive university application, CSMS Outreach Events are a powerful first step towards achieving your goals.

Cornwall Schools Science Olympiad (CSSO)

Welcome to the sixth annual Cornwall Schools Science Olympiad (CSSO)

Taking place on Thursday 25th June, this free event is open to teams of Year 10 students from schools across Cornwall, offering a fantastic opportunity to compete, collaborate and be challenged across science and engineering disciplines

The CSSO will feature three exciting morning rounds: a practical challenge, a theory challenge and an engineering challenge. Scores will then be combined, with the top two teams progressing to a University Challenge-style final showdown in the afternoon

This is an academically demanding event designed to stretch the most able Year 10 scientists, while also providing a fun and engaging competition experience

There are a maximum of 20 team places available, with schools initially limited to one team each. Any remaining places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis

We look forward to another fantastic year of competition.
