There was excitement at Camborne Science & International Academy (CSIA) as students gathered to receive their long‑awaited GCSE results, marking another year of improved performance across the board. This year’s outcomes reflected hard work, resilience and determination from pupils and staff alike.
In the latest results, Attainment 8 – which measures overall student achievement – rose, with 69 per cent of students achieving at least a grade 4 in both English and Mathematics, 47 per cent achieving grade 5 or above, and 16 per cent reaching grades 7 or higher. English proved a particular strength, with 81 per cent of entries graded at or above grade 4, while in Mathematics 23 per cent of all results were in the top grade brackets 9, 8 and 7. Vocational subjects also performed strongly, with nearly 40 per cent of grades at Distinction (grade 7+) or above and all entries achieving at least a Pass (grade 4+) or higher.
Several individual students recorded exceptional results. Riley R earned nine grade 9s and a grade 8, and will go on to study Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Physics, along with an Extended Project Qualification, at CSIA’s Cornwall School of Maths and Science. Daisy W also achieved a string of top grades including multiple grade 9s and will continue her studies in advanced subjects at the same post‑16 provision. Other high achievers included Fox H with an impressive haul of top grades and Lily W, both progressing to CSIA’s sixth form to pursue further study.
In total, there were 151 grade 9s, 347 grades 8 or higher, 611 grades 7 or higher and 1 361 grades of 5 or above across all subjects. Principal Emma Haase said she was “so proud” of all the students and the dedication they had shown, adding that their results were testament to the hard work of both pupils and staff. She highlighted that the academy’s commitment to developing well‑rounded young people played a key role in the success and that this year’s achievements provided a perfect way to celebrate students’ efforts.
