Students from the Cornwall School of Math and Science (CSMS), the STEM sixth form within Camborne Science & International Academy (CSIA) and part of Athena Learning Trust, have returned from a memorable educational and cultural exchange in Thailand.
CSMS students attended the 9th KVIS Invitational Science Fair 2026 at Kamnoetvidya Science Academy (KVIS) in Nakhon Pathom, joining young scientists from around the world to present projects, exchange ideas, and explore the latest advances in STEM education.
They presented their work to a professional panel and were recognised with awards: Austin, Felix, Elyssia, and Ella for their project presentations, and Brook and Lily for their overall participation and contribution.
Alongside the science fair, students took part in cultural excursions, including swimming through bioluminescent waters, feeding elephants, exploring temples, experiencing Thai boxing, taking part in a Thai cooking workshop, supporting a marine turtle conservation centre, planting mangrove seeds, and visiting Khaosan Road in Bangkok.
CSMS is part of Camborne Sixth Form at CSIA. This was the school’s second visit to Thailand this year, alongside recent international trips to Japan and Iceland, highlighting its commitment to broadening students’ global experiences and encouraging them to challenge themselves beyond the classroom.
Emma Haase, Principal of Camborne Science and International Academy, said:
“Attending the KVIS Invitational Science Fair gave our CSMS students a unique opportunity to present their ideas on an international stage while experiencing a rich and immersive culture. Trips like this help them develop confidence, collaboration, and friendships that will last a lifetime, inspiring them to think globally and embrace every opportunity that comes their way.”
