Students from Camborne Science and International Academy (CSIA) were joined by double Olympic champion rower Helen Glover as they gathered for the school’s annual Sports and Performing Arts Awards Evening. The event celebrated pupils’ dedication, teamwork and commitment across a wide range of sports and performing arts activities, recognising achievements such as Sports Personality of the Year, Athlete of the Year, Rising Stars, Team of the Year and a variety of performing arts categories. The evening also honoured the accomplishments of CSIA’s Sports Leaders, who gained nationally recognised leadership qualifications.
Helen Glover attended as the guest speaker and shared insights from her elite sporting journey, offering students a glimpse into the perseverance and resilience required to compete at the highest level. As a two‑time Olympic gold medallist and the first British mother of three to win an Olympic medal — a silver in the women’s four at Paris 2024 — she spoke openly with pupils about training, setbacks and motivation.
The Sports Personality of the Year awards were presented to Liv C for the girls’ category, while the boys’ award was jointly awarded to Fyn M and Harley S following a year of exceptional performance and leadership. Principal Emma Haase praised all students for their resilience, passion and commitment, adding that the event celebrated not just individual achievements but also the collective spirit that makes the school community special.
